Team Punique is proud to share the heartwarming success of the 2025 Planning and Thanksgiving Party held last January 7 at Mesa Alta Restaurant in Malolos City, Bulacan. Co-organized by RCC President Cesca Lacanilao and Punique founder Jonnah L. Garcia, the event brought together members of the Puni Women Weavers Rotary Community Corps (RCC) in celebration of their accomplishments and collective growth over the past year.
This meaningful gathering was not only a moment of gratitude, but also a launchpad for future endeavors. One of the most anticipated announcements was the newly formed partnership with the Rotary Foundation, which will support the training of new artisans and expand livelihood opportunities through the art of puni. This collaboration aligns with the shared vision of empowering women, preserving local culture, and creating sustainable impact through skill-building and creative enterprise.
The event opened with heartfelt reflections, as members looked back on their proudest moments from 2024 and shared their hopes for the year ahead. In their messages, Ms. Cesca Lacanilao and Mrs. Jonnah Garcia expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering spirit of teamwork and commitment among the weavers. "We are thankful sa inyong lahat kasi walang iwanan. Everyone is working together to help each other...like a family," they shared.
Puni RCC Master Artisan, Mrs. Noemi Garcia, also gave a touching message of appreciation. “Thank you for helping give meaning to something once viewed as obsolete and traditional, and for preserving the culture of Bulacan,” she said. “Kaya be proud kasi Maloleños tayo.”
The celebration continued with laughter and camaraderie, as everyone enjoyed Filipino party games and a raffle that made sure no one went home empty-handed. More than just a celebration, the event reaffirmed the deep bonds within the Puni RCC and Punique community, laying the groundwork for an even more impactful 2025.
This partnership with the Rotary Foundation signifies a powerful step forward in our mission to promote cultural heritage while fostering inclusive and meaningful livelihood. With unity, purpose, and renewed energy, the Punique and RCC family is ready to weave a brighter future together.
