Celebrating Heritage: PUNIQUE at Barasoain Church's 'Puni' Exhibit

National Heritage Month Exhibit at Barasoain Church

Team PUNIQUE is deeply honored to participate in the opening of the "Puni" exhibit today, held at the historic Barasoain Church in celebration of National Heritage Month. This distinguished event offered a unique opportunity to witness the fusion of traditional and contemporary techniques in the art of "puni" – the intricate craft of weaving coconut and buli leaves.

A highlight of the afternoon was the posthumous recognition of Mrs. Rheeza Hernandez, an esteemed colleague and puni trainor, for her invaluable contribution to the preservation and promotion of this traditional Filipino art form. The award was presented in collaboration with her partner and mentor, Mrs. Noemi P. Garcia, whose shared dedication to passing down this cultural heritage continues to inspire and enrich the community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sir Ruel "El" Paguiligan, the curator of the Barasoain Museum, for inviting Team PUNIQUE to be part of this momentous event and for his unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Filipino heritage through such meaningful initiatives.
