Team Punique is honored to have participated in LIKHA: Ceramics and Puni, a cultural exhibition proudly presented by Ascott Makati. This collaborative showcase offered a refined presentation of two cherished Filipino traditions, ceramic pottery and puni weaving, highlighting the depth and diversity of local craftsmanship.
Held at the Ascott Makati lobby and open to the public until June 29, 2025, the exhibit featured the works of distinguished Filipino artisans whose commitment to culture, creativity, and community advocacy reflects the spirit of Filipino heritage. Among them were Jon and Tessy Pettyjohn, pioneers of contemporary ceramic arts in the Philippines whose studio, Pettyjohn Pottery, is known for transforming clay into elegant expressions of form and function. Also featured was Jonnah Garcia, owner and co-founder of PUNIQUE Handicrafts, whose social enterprise has brought the traditional art of puni weaving to a wider audience while empowering women in local communities. The exhibit also honored the work of Marichelle S. Bernardo, Tourism Officer and founder of PUNI DE MALOLOS, who has long championed the preservation and promotion of puni through workshops and advocacy efforts across the country.
This meaningful collaboration emphasized the power of traditional art to both preserve culture and inspire innovation. The inclusion of puni weaving in the exhibit gave our women artisans the opportunity to share their stories not only as weavers, but as cultural ambassadors. Through their craft, they have found renewed pride, confidence, and sustainable income, all while contributing to the continuation of Bulacan’s rich artistic legacy.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Ascott Makati for creating a platform that elevates local craftsmanship and honors the people behind these enduring traditions. Team Punique remains committed to celebrating and sharing Filipino heritage through meaningful collaborations that promote creativity, cultural awareness, and community empowerment.
